The Fast and Furious Franchise Ranked

What if Point Break and Ocean's Eleven had a baby? That's a lot of dads.

8. 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)

The sequel to the original smash hit was fun but Vin Diesel and the rest of original cast is MIA. Wait. That's confusing because there's a character named 'Mia' and she's M.I.A. I have to sit down.

7. Fast & Furious (2009)

Not as good as the movies to follow but a welcome return of the original cast joined by Tokyo Drift's 'Han' and newcomer, Gal Gadot. And although the story isn't the best, it does lay the groundwork for the fun and outlandish direction the franchise takes in the rest of the series. Also, kudos to the studio for not being afraid to totally mess with the timeline, seeing as this movie, the fourth installment, is actually a prequel to the third, fifth, and sixth films in the franchise.

6. The Fate of the Furious (2017)

Charlize Theron looked like she shot all of her scenes in one location in about three hours. And that might actually be true. I think I read that somewhere but I refuse to do any sort of research for this so we'll just assume it's an observation I made. While she might be a bore, the rest of the cast is back and better than ever. And when I say the rest of the cast, I mean literally every person who has ever been in a movie with fast cars and quick editing is in this film.

5. Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)

That's the kid from Sling Blade. Him. Right above these words. He was the little kid in Sling Blade. This movie was cool. It borrows a lot from any movie where there is a new kid in school and the hot girl likes him but the cool clique wants to murder him (Footloose, Karate Kid, The Lost Boys). Introduction of fan-favorite, Han and the delicate art of drifting.

4. Furious 7 (2015)

This was probably the most anticipated film of the franchise following the post-credit scene in Furious 6. Not only does that scene catch up the timeline so now everything is back to normal, but we find out that Han's real killer is JASON FUCKING STATHAM. And Fast 7 didn't disappoint. Kurt Russell is in this god damn movie.

3. The Fast and the Furious (2001)

There's nothing quite like the original. Unless you consider that this is basically a shot for shot remake of Point Break. Nonetheless, it launched an armada of high octane popcorn poppin' roller coaster movies that have taken the entire world by storm. It's in the top three for that reason alone.

2. Furious 6 (2013)

So much happens in this movie but I don't remember any of it because of the crazy tank stunt where Letty gets thrown from a tank off of a bridge and Dom climbs on top of his car and purposely slams into the side of the bridge to throw himself into the air to catch Letty before she falls to her death and after he catches her he rolls over in mid air to protect her from getting hurt when they slam into the windshield of another car. That scene. Yup.

1. Fast Five (2011)

This is the movie where the actors all decided it would be fun to make Ocean's 11 movies forever. And The Rock. The Rock is here now. So you have a Fast and the Furious all star cast of the best characters from the franchise in a heist movie and then just for fun you add Dwayne THE ROCK Johnson. How could you rank any movie higher? You can't. No one can.
